Felipe's restaurant, cozy and delicious. as always. |

Since some months ago when I heard that a new administration had taken the responsibility of managing Felipe's restaurant I wanted to visit the place. For many years Felipe's has been one of my favorites spots. Some of the most memorable moments of my life in Puerto Vallarta have developed there and I have always received a marvelous attention there, therefore I was curious to find out whether this was kept up and I decided that it was the moment to put it to a test.
Since our arrival we could perceive that the romantic essence of the place continues to be the same, however there is an air of a new life in the atmosphere inviting to stroll along the patio or the terrace of the hacienda, illuminated by lamps hanging from the trees and made out of typical materials. In this place the location of all the tables offer a spectacular view of the bay and the center of town.
It is a tradition for us to start with a Cesar salad with shrimps, and that night was not an exception. When I realized that the staff is not the same anymore, I thought that they would definitely not prepare the salad as usual. After it had been prepared in front of us, I tried the salad and received my first very pleasant surprise, the taste was the same as usual with the necessary proportion of each one of the ingredients.
We ordered the "Salmon Filet" as a main course, covered with a shrimp sauce and served over seafood pasta. The presentation of the dish was very flashy and when I tried it, my whole resistance finally disappeared. It had been a long time since I had savored such exquisite seafood pasta. I was able to distinguish in my palate between the perfectly cooked salmon and the pasta cooked al dente. All the seafood had the exact consistency and was bathed with a shrimp sauce that for my taste had an unmistakably regional flavor. When I knew the origin of the chef Hector Moreno I could confirm the reason for the regional flavor.
The evening out was very pleasant, we enjoyed a fresh and star-filled night harmonized by an excellent selection of background music. The service of our waiter and the other coworkers was affectionate and exact. Thank you very much to Hector who visited us at our table to make sure that we were satisfied with his cuisine and well attended.
The cost of our dinner with a starter and a main course (no specialties) was approximately 270 Pesos per person without including drinks. There is a list of specialties on the menu which includes Pacific lobster, giant shrimps and a seafood platter for 2 people. The desserts prepared at the table are a spectacle which has to be seen and enjoyed and the bar, besides counting on a variety of table wines, has everything available that you may imagine in drinks and cocktails.
This time I retained my desire to drink a coffee thrown on the very comfortable armchair which is found coming down the entrance steps. Next time I shall not miss it.
Enjoy your meal and see you next time.
