12th Gourmet Festival - Everything hoped for happened!

Chef Thierry Blouet avows himself completely satisfied with the results of the XII  Gourmet Festival that was founded by him together with Roland Menetrey and Heinz Reize and that now, twelve years after its formation, has turned into one of the most prestigious international gastronomical festivals.

And that is quite an accomplishment since more than 220 of best chefs of the world have participated. During one week full of flavor and color, they shared their knowledge and expertise in the best known restaurants, those that took part in the event. This year there was a return to the original philosophy of the festival which consisted in maintaining intimacy. Precisely the return to small things allows for the generation of an authentic sharing among friends.

After acknowledged and commented feasts, such as the welcome dinner of the Chefs of the World, the Tables of the Chef, the Cheeses of the World and the Gourmet Cooking Classes among others, each one of the participants contributed and received an important vocational training where those that benefited the most were the diners. They were fascinated while sampling exquisite menus where different culinary touches of the experts could be distinguished. In order for their recipes to have more brilliance and quality, both imported products as well as regional products were used. The result has been catalogued as unique!

Meat, cheese and wine were the main characters of this XII Gourmet Festival, without setting aside the elaborated and spectacular side dishes that fittingly accompanied each one of the plates.

Nevertheless besides the food the most relevant experience was the human aspect since for the 22 participating restaurants, this one was one of the most complete festivals in its history.

"It is the first year where everything we hoped for happened" assured Thierry Blouet, “each one of the events turned out perfect according to how it had been planned, starting with the inauguration and welcome of the Chefs of the World up to the Gala Dinner with the theme Spirit of Mexico, everything was a success and had excellent quality".

According to their previous experiences, the organizers have decided to return to their original philosophy of keeping the festival within a small and intimate frame, and therefore for the owner of the Café des Artistes the XII Gourmet Festival turned out to be one of the most balanced ones.  "For us the main objective is for people to enjoy the festival each year as if it were a celebration".

For starters the preparations for the XIII Gourmet Festival, which will take place in November 2007, have already begun. It will include a plan to have specialized media coverage from several parts of the world which will contribute to increasing considerably the promotion for our destination.
