Wine Fest 2008 Announced
Provided by Ambito - Alan Yamil Hinojosa

Only a few months after the first edition of the Wine Fest was held in PuertoVallarta late February this year, the announcement was made a few days of what will be the second edition of the festival created to celebrate wine.

At a press conference presided over by restaurateur Ignacio Cadena Beraud and Master Sommelier Agustin Rodriguez Aguayo, some of the aspects of the festival, which is foreseen as a great event that will take up more spaces and will encompass manifestations from all artistic disciplines.

It was mentioned that even though the festival will only take place once a year in our city, preparations and related events will go on throughout the year.

For starters, on August 29 to 31, a wine seminar, aimed at the general public, but especially at students in the areas of tourism and gastronomy.

Largely, promotional efforts will be oriented to make wine known as a beverage with tradition and history more than as an intoxicating drink. This concern reflects on the committee’s interest to bring the culture of wine closer to the students of tourism, to have them get acquainted with the goodness of this millenary beverage.
According to organizers, the Wine Fest 2008 will take place on March 11 to 15, only a few days apart from Easter. The festival’s aim is to offer alternative activities and events to sun and beach for visitors and locals alike.

To the purpose of including a broader spectrum of cultural events, it is intended that the Culture Department will further its involvement in the fest, and there will be a guest country –to be confirmed- which will present its variety of wines, and its culture will be included in the cultural program, with performances and exhibitions during the festival.

In closing, the organizers volunteered that from the great success of the first Wine Fest, the idea arose to make it an itinerant festival, beginning with Guadalajara and Leon, cities that have been approached by them. However, they said, Puerto Vallarta will always be the home of the Wine Fest.
