Valentine's Day was a very special
day for the Vehara Gonzalez family. It marked the opening of their new establishment,
Kuma Restaurant Bar. The hosts welcomed their guests with a big fiesta to inaugurate
this new gastronomical locale. The place was full of the family's friends, relatives
and guests, all there to wish them the very best in their new venture. Every
last little detail had been checked thoroughly. Little candles had been placed
all around to enhance the warm and welcoming atmosphere for the new customers.
After the bartender had cooled the white wine and margaritas for the toast that
would follow, and Chef Kuma gave a last check to the dishes he had prepared for
the event, everyone gathered at the front doors for the traditional ribbon cutting
ceremony. Among applause and celebration, the "Nuevo Vallarta" Mariachi
entered the scenario to provide the final grand touch to the event. Then
we were told about the restaurant's name - Kuma - the Chef's name. It appears
that this lady Chef comes from Hong Kong. A close friend of the owners, she has
had quite a career through her many years. She came to Mexico ten years ago, by
way of the port city of Veracruz. Kuma intends to specialize
in Seafood and Chinese dishes. Among the items in the former category, customers
to this new venue are invited to enjoy dishes such as crab taquitos, empanadas,
or a "Filet of Lost Fish" (bathed in seafood in a lobster sauce). Or
they may opt for three out of the six different dishes in the Chinese food buffet.
These will be changed daily. To enjoy this succulent variety
of flavors, we suggest you drop in and visit Kuma yourself. The restaurant is
located right in front of the Tribune offices, at 425 Basilio Badillo St. Tel.:
