The Pie in the Sky - Puerto Vallarta,
Café and Pastry Shop has just completed its first partial month of operations
following a grand opening on July 13th, 2002. The shop is located in Vallarta
Centro, just south of the Malecon at the corner of Aquiles Serdan, nest to the
hotel Posada Rio Cuale. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The
Café features the entire product line of the Pie in the Sky bakery in Bucerias,
a fifteen-year institution in the region. The signature product is the world famous
"BESO", the most decadent chocolate brownie ever !!! Other familiar
products include a selection of cheesecakes, chocolate and almond layer cakes,
chocolate chip cookies, pecan and mango pies. New products include apple pies
(the way that mother makes it), strawberry and oatmeal/raisin/yogurt scones, gourmet
recipe chicken pie, white spinach mini-pizza, and much more. The
shop offers sit-down service in an air-conditioned continental-style café
with a full range of hot and cold coffee drinks. A local Italian expat says that
it is the best espresso he has had in Puerto Vallarta. Other beverages are available
to go. Special orders ranging from simple cake decoration to wedding cakes for
any number of guests can be accommodated with advance notice
We deliver!!! Background: Roberta
Herring is the sister of Susan Drexler Price, the owner of the Bucerias bakery.
Following a number of visits to Puerto Vallarta from their horse ranch in Colorado,
she and Lee J. Alter decided that it was important for "Pie in the Sky"
to return to the center of the action in Vallarta. Roberta had a vision as to
the look she wanted and with the help of José Luis Hernandez Cosio (owner/landlord
of the hotel), Freddy Salman, the café manager, and many others, she was
able to complete the remodeling in less than three months. Roberta
is a "retired" territory manager for an international school picture
company. Lee is a former attorney and "semi-retired" small business
consultant. Their big decision now is to figure out how to handle the Arabian
Horse Ranch and still have time to enjoy their little beach house at Playa Careyero,
near Punta de Mita. |
