SPECIAL REPORTS
It is the perfect place to rest framed
by palm trees that open a door towards one of the longest
beaches of the bay, which are constantly caressed by
the fresh breeze and bathed by the sea.
I had the idea to spend an intimate
and quiet weekend. The goal was to rest and take some
time to read and think things out. When the options
were set on the table, Claudia and I decided to go to
Villas
Casa Blanca Hotel in Bucerias, and we couldn’t
have chosen a better place!
Bucerias is located approximately
fifteen minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. Friday afternoon
we left everything behind and we took the highway towards
our goal. From the highway Bucerias doesn’t look
like a tourist rest place, nevertheless as we entered
the town we sensed that we had arrived at a place where
it sometimes looked like we had gone into Puerto Vallarta,
but a few years back.
The welcome at Villas
Casa Blanca Hotel was delightful. At our totally
equipped and immaculately clean suite a wild flower
arrangement awaited us, as well as a platter full of
fruit of the season. The two bedroom, dining-living
room, kitchen, two baths, balconies and decorated with
picturesque Mexican details suite conveyed the warmth
of home surrounded by tranquility. Upon our arrival
we knew we were in the right place.
That afternoon we spent sitting on
the hotel beach to watch the spectacular sunset. The
way Bucerias is placed on the bay, during this time
of the year the sun sets behind the mountains and not
on the sea. To enjoy the sunset under this circumstances
allowed us to perceived other details of the sun light
that never before we were able to observe. That was
a moment of contact with nature.
The hotel location is strategic.
One block from it you can find restaurants and coffee
shops that offer services of a first rate tourist place.
To buy food supplies there are several picturesque options
that are very typical and common in Mexico, the groceries
stores called “tiendas de abarrotes”. In
them you may find everything that is required to cook
with in a suite. Approximately four streets from the
hotel, or if you rather walk on the beach for more or
less than a kilometer, you reach the center of town,
were you find main square or “zocalo” and
the church, which are very crowded by the locals specially
on Saturday nights and Sundays. There you may find typical
restaurants, stores, an arts and crafts market or “tianguis”,
ice cream parlors, small boutiques, video game arcades
and much more that the locals and visitors enjoy. At
the beach there are several seafood restaurants where
fresh fish and seafood is served, and when in season
they serve their famous oysters. It is said that the
name Bucerias was given to the place because long time
ago a lot of divers, “buzos” used to go
diving “bucear” for oysters.
Early on Saturday morning we rode
to “La Cruz de Huanacaxtle”, a fishing town
south of Bucerias, where we bought fresh fish and also
had a delicious bar-b-q tacos breakfast, which is very
typical and popular in Mexico. We came back to the hotel
to the comfort of a fully equipped kitchen and we cooked
and enjoy a succulent meal. After lunch we watched the
sea from the balcony and we fell asleep and enjoyed
a “siesta” as never before. As I said at
the beginning Casa
Blanca is the perfect place to really rest. For
those golf lovers the location of Villas
Casa Blanca Hotel is perfect to make it hole 19!
All the golf courses are no more than 20 minutes away
from Bucerias!
The Villas
Casa Blanca Hotel has six totally equipped two-bedroom
villas, a studio and a special suite for honeymooners.
It also has a swimming pool, garden area, open grill,
private beach access and daily maid service. Depending
on the time of year their rates vary between US $60.00
to $150.00 Dls. per night. We had the chance to talk
to some of the guests, and all of them, like us, we
were delighted to be there. Its location by the sea,
its set up and its surroundings make Casa
Blanca if not the best, at least one of the best
options for staying at Bucerias.
Hasta Pronto!
