VALLARTA MEMORIES

Our Ambassador visits Mascota 1942

April, 2005

In search of a closer relationship between Puerto Vallarta and Mascota, a representative of our local beauty was selected an ambassador to join the Queen of the patriotic holidays in Mascota. They young lady elected was Maria Partida, a beautiful tall, blonde girl with wavy long hair. She was not only congenial and popular but also a very smart girl. These characteristics put her on the path to success.

Maria Partida was escorted to the airport to travel to Mascota by a group of soldiers from the Fifteen Zone District of Cavaral Regiment.

A crowd at the Mascota airport welcomed her. People from all over the city came to the airport. This included agrarians, charros on horseback forming a line of escort, athletes in sports uniforms, etc. The celebrations were pompous. My husband was in Mascota at that time and witnessed the festivities. When María came back to Vallarta she was revered by all the locals who welcomed her at the airport. María was glowing with happiness! Don Ponciano Guzmán y Guzmán, the person who came up with the idea of sending María as our ambassador, was very pleased with María's performances as a representative of Vallarta.
