VALLARTA MEMORIES

Mascota's Ambassador Visits Vallarta 1950

From the book "Puerto Vallarta My Memories" - [Leer en español]
December 2005

I remember beautiful Señorita Teresita Arreola, who won the crown of the Patriotic holidays by popular vote, accompanied by her handsome escort, charro Prieto Ibarría. She was a great representative o f Vallarta.

The sister town of Vallarta was Mascota, Jalisco. In 1950 Mascota sent gracious ambassador, Señorita Teresita Cuevas Niz to visit Puerto Vallarta. I was the first lady of Vallartaat the time. A group of ladies organized a comité to pick up Señorita Teresita Cueva Niz from the airport. I was in charge to give her a welcome speech that read as follows:

“Welcome to Vallarta, graceful ambassador of Mascota. The town of Puerto Vallarta has asked me to extend the warmest welcome to such great representative of our sister city. It is a great honor to be hosts to your visit during our traditional Patriotic Holidays. Your visit means a lot to us. It represents the alliance between two sister cities, and the union of our common interests. You are a great representative of Mascota’s romanticism and culture. As a token of appreciation, I hereby offer you the keys of our Port and wish you enjoy and have a great stay with us. On behalfo of the citizens of Vallarta, please extend our respect and best regards to the hospitable city of Mascota.”
