On May 1, 1968, the Lions Club organized a bullfight fundraiser to benefit the construction of new Senior Citizen home. Many local people participated in the festival.
Many on the community people participated in the fundraiser bullfight to benefit the construction of a new Senior Citizens Home. Matadors were Paco Calvillo, art and courage; Doctor Efrén Calderón, courage and dominium, Engineer Abelardo Garcia, bullfighter’s aid. There were four pure bred bulls brought especially from the renowned cattle house of Alvarez Brothers.
The fundraiser bullfight was a success. Everyone enjoyed the show. The public applauded and raved loudly to the bullfighters with a lot of “Olés.” There were beautiful local girls dressed as Manolas.
In 1969 during the tenure of Mayor José Vázquez Galván, the Patriotic Holidays were magnificent. Señorita Martha Rosa Lepe was elected Queen of the Patriotic Holidays. Beautiful princesses María Trinidad Hernandez and my granddaughter Lupita Garduño Contreras accompanied Queen Martha Rosa.
