How to choose the place for your wedding in Puerto Vallarta?

By: Priscilla & Héctor Arminio - Prisar Vallarta - Februaty,2008

Puerto Vallarta is a city that has a large diversity of places where you can hold your wedding, some of them are natural wonders and others are built by man but all of them can take your breath away.

One of the questions that always comes to mind is: you may want to get married in a place with a beautiful view and a wild environment like a villa or restaurant in the south shore or on the mountains; or you may want to get married on the beach playing with the waves at a local hotel.

Normally when you find the perfect place you will feel that attraction tickling all over your body. You fell in love and the moment you imagine your dream wedding you lose your breath and say “here it is”.

We believe the location is the most important variable, because when you decide to get married in Vallarta you want to keep that memory forever. To find the perfect place we think the most important variables to consider are:

  1. Number of Guests
  2. Schedule
  3. Distance
  1. Number of Guests

When you have a small number of guests (less than 50) the options are endless, you can get married in any villa, restaurant or hotel in the city. Here we will have to consider the other variables to determine the place.

If you have between 50 and 100 guests, the options narrow substantially, because villas and restaurants were built with the idea of giving rest to its visitors, to offer times of relaxation and not to hold parties.

If you want to get married in the south shore and you have over 100 guests, there are no more than 5 places that can hold your wedding and you can not increase the number to more than 150, the same will happen if you choose a restaurant.

If you have over 150 guests you have the option of some restaurants (with great limitations) but most hotels can provide the service without a problem.

  1. Weddings Puerto VallartaSchedule

This variable does not seem to be very significant, but when you analyze it, the schedule will turn into the most important issue, we have to remember that once you decide to get married in Puerto Vallarta, this will become an important financial item not only to you, but also to the guests attending the event. They have to look for the best travel and lodging choices so they can join you on such an important day.

Once you have an estimate of the number of attendees to your wedding you will have a range of places where you can hold it, now if you decide to get married in a villa or restaurant you must have the party end by 11 pm at most of them (95%); or midnight at the rest (5%).

The pros and cons of this situation are: during the daylight savings period the sun sets between 8 and 9 pm and most everybody wants a ceremony during that period, this will leave us a minimum of time for the reception. Of course you can begin before the sunset and take advantage of the sunny hours but your guests may be uncomfortable because the sun and the heat are very strong. During the winter season the sunset is between 6 and 7 pm and providing for greater time flexibility.

At many hotels the reception has to end between 11 pm and midnight but there are several options where you can have your celebration go on until later, between 1 and 2 am, at these places you will have more time for everything and you can better distribute all your activities.

Based on our experience we can tell that the minimum span of time for a reception is 5 hours to achieve better cost-benefit results, not only for you because you will spend your money renting the place and contracting services, but also in your guests’ enjoyment.

  1. Distance

To break the distance barrier in Puerto Vallarta you can hire different vehicles that can go from vans and tourism buses to ships that have all the services and amenities your guests can demandWeddings Puerto Vallarta.

Here you just need to tell all your guests of a hotel or location where a vehicle will pick them up and bring them back after the party.  The only drawback is the lack of flexibility and any eventuality could become a problem. For this reason we recommend to have the party the closest possible to the city so everybody can take advantage of all the city services if needed.

Of course there are other important variables that you will need to consider, as are all the suppliers of different services, if you want more information or assistantce do not hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to help you.
